Game 2 sees the 2s receive a sharp lesson.

The 2s turned up bright and early raring for the contest after last week’s demo job on Old Millhillians. Spirits were high and the warm-up was done to perfection, however as the whistle went the boys did not follow suit.

Despite being able to build some good phase ball and smooth attacking rugby, defensively the ******** were lacking intensity.

Actonians were able to run away early doors, scoring two tries in quick concession. (10-0)
After finding themselves under the sticks twice in the first ten minutes, the ******** started to put in some big hits and create numerous chances in attack, however they did not come to any avail.

Actonians maintained their momentum and prevented the Hammers from breaking their line.

During the latter of the first half the game was un fluid and stop start with consecutive line outs and scrums butchered preventing a platform to play some joue rugby.

Hammers defended their line for a long period late in the half, but Actonians were once again able to cross the whitewash (17-0).

With 5 minutes to go in the first half Hammers finally regained one of Max’s money restarts, what followed was smooth hands and well-timed hard lines from the forwards. After Actonians dirty play on their 5-meter causing numerous penalties that the ref conveniently missed (He’s on Actonians pay roll) the ******** put the ball through the hands on the right hand side and Sam Nursey went into the corner (17-7).

Momentum was building, confidence was growing and straight from the restart the ******** were back on Actonians 5-meter line. Backing themselves to go for the corner instead of the easy 3 points unfortunately there was nothing more to show before the break after another butchered line out.

Half Time.

Despite the ******** bringing the heat for the last 5 mins the second half started much like the first. A limited attacking platform and some sloppy defending.

Actonian’s 9 who “looked like the fella from washed away” managed to finally kick a conversion over.

After a couple penalties slotted by Actonians it was looking out of reach for the ********. With ten to go and down twenty points the ******** found a new confidence. Joe sliced through like a fat kid through cake, proceeding to bounce their flanker into next week. Some nice phase play on the 5 meter and to the backs with Joe dotting down in the corner.

Too little too late. Actonians won a maul and their post-addicted Thor proceeded to scream as if he had single handily won the game. Ease up hero, you were blowing after ten.

With that the boys wrapped up the game with a 30-14L.

We got the train to the Kings Arms to drown the sorrows. Onto next week. #winorlosewebooze
