Club & Player Insurance

The Club and its players are covered by the following insurances, which are provided by the RFU:

CLUB INSURANCE
The RFU provides the following insurance to all its affiliated Clubs:

Public Liability insurance
Employers Liability insurance
Director’s & Officer’s insurance

PLAYER INSURANCE – PERMANENT DISABILITY
The RFU insurance provides fixed benefit payments for death and permanently disabling or catastrophic injuries, such as a traumatic brain injury or spinal injury, caused as a result of an accident that occurs whilst taking part in the sport.

Cover is NOT included for sickness or injuries resulting from a medical condition. Cover is also not included for loss of income if you are temporarily injured.

In addition, The RFU Injured Players Foundations provides immediate and lifelong support to rugby players who sustain a catastrophic spinal cord or traumatic brain injury.  Further details about the IPF can be found at rfuipf.org.uk

PLAYER INSURANCE – DEATH BY NATURAL CAUSES, TEMPORARY DISABILITY & LOSS OF EARNINGS
Players are NOT insured by the Club (or by the RFU) for death by natural causes, temporary disability or loss of earnings.

ALL PLAYERS ARE STRONGLY ADVISED to consider taking out their own personal insurance to cover death by natural causes, temporary disability and/or loss of earnings and to consider whether the permanent disability and accidental death cover provided under the RFU Scheme are adequate for their personal circumstances.
