Old H&F player to ride 100 miles for the Injured Players Foundation

Old fart from H&FRFC to ride 100 miles for the Injured Players Foundation

Hammers’ Carl Evans will be taking part in the 100 mile Prudential RideLondon event on 4th August on behalf of the RFU Injured Players Foundation.

Players from the club have been helped directly by the Foundation and the club has been involved in raising funds for them over many years.

“I’m happy to raise money for the RFU Injured Players Foundation who do so much to help rugby players of all standards who have been injured playing the sport” says Carl. “Serious injuries are still few and far between given the number of people who play rugby but when they do happen they can be life changing for players and their families. The Foundation aims to help people in these circumstances and I have seen some of their work at first hand.”

Carl is looking for sponsorship and has set up an account with VirginGiving so its easy to donate:

The Injured Players Foundation is a charity that helps and supports rugby players who have suffered a catastrophic spinal cord or traumatic brain injury which has resulted in permanent disability whilst playing rugby in England. It supports players at all levels and all ages. You can see more about their activities and research at: www.rfuipf.org.uk

If you know other people who may be interested in supporting this charity do send my email on.

Thank you for your support.

TRAINING UPDATE – WEEK COMMENCING 10th SEPTEMBER

WE’RE BACK AT HURLINGHAM!
Every Tuesday & Thursday from 7.30pm to 9.00pm on grass under floodlights.  Changing rooms & showers will be available.

Welcome to the Hammers Junior Section

We offer fun but competitive rugby for under 5s to under 18s. Every Sunday morning from 3rd September 2017 between 10am and noon until April 2018 for only £110 at Hurlingham Park. No previous playing experience is required as you will receive training on how to play and develop your game from our RFU qualified coaches.

If you just want to give it a go for a couple of training session before fully committing yourself, then you are more than welcome to attend. Once you are committed, your time will be divided between training and playing matches.

The under 6’s to under 14’s play in many festivals and tournaments around the Middlesex and Surrey, as well as friendly matches against other local teams.

The under 15’s and under 18’s play league games in the Saracens, Middlesex & Hertfordshire Leagues and quite a few friendly matches during the season.

Apart from anything else rugby is a team sport that helps individual players to develop their character, personality and boost their confidence, whilst taking part in great activity.

The core values of the game of rugby laid down by the RFU are taught to all players at the club which are: –

  • Teamwork
  • Respect
  • Enjoyment
  • Discipline
  • Sportsmanship

Our youth section has achieved RFU and Sports England Clubmark Accreditation, which means we have met all criteria required for the highest level of coaching, facilities and safety standards at rugby union club in the UK.

I look forward to seeing and meeting all new and old members during the 2017-2018 season and I hope your time at our youth section is an enjoyable experience.
