Club Shop

Because of the Covid-19 restrictions we have had to temporarily close our Sunday morning club shop, but we are busy preparing our new online shop which we ope to launch shortly. Please bear with us whilst we get this up and running.

The cafe will continue to provide tea, coffee, soft drinks and snacks, although currently we are unable to serve our famous bacon sandwiches. Hopefully this will change soon.

Return to Play one step closer

Community Rugby has moved one step further towards returning to competitive rugby. The RFU has announced that its Return to Community Rugby Roadmap has advanced from Stage C to Stage D.

The six stage roadmap progresses from Stage A which related to individual training with one other person through to Stage F where there can be a return to competitive matches against other teams.

The progression to Stage D on the Return to Rugby Roadmap means that limited and adapted contact activity can now be included in a training session and inter-club Touch/Ready4Rugby fixtures are allowed. In Stage D a maximum 15 minutes (total duration) of adapted contact activities within a single training session is permitted. In the remainder of the training session, players are permitted to undertake socially distanced strength and conditioning activities, small group non-contact skill development practice and/or Touch/Ready4Rugby games (the only other permitted game training activity).

Return to Play

The RFU has announced that its Return to Community Rugby Roadmap has been updated from Stage C to STAGE D which means that clubs are now able to recommence a small amount of contact rugby – limited to no more than 15 minutes per 75 minute session.

Clubs must continue to follow government Coronavirus (Covid-19) guidelines, along with any local government lockdown restrictions that may be introduced.

The RFU has produced detailed guidance for Clubs which is available on the England Rugby website www.englandrugby.com/dxdam/04/047966b8-78b5-42a6-b106-81c5899443f0/Restarting-competitive-grassroots_VF.pdf

The return will initially be through non-contact rugby focused on Ready4Rugby, a specifically designed new non-contact game, enabling two teams of up to 10 players to engage in training and match activity in their own club environment. Subject to satisfactory operation through August the RFU hope to be able to move to inter-club Ready4Rugby in September.

Further details about Ready4Rugby can be found on the England Rugby website www.englandrugby.com/participation/playing/game-on/ready-4-rugby

Andrew Barrington will continue to ensure that Hammersmith & Fulham RFC remains compliant with the RFU and Government guidelines and will advise on changes to adult training in due course.

Charing Cross Hospital Covid-19 Appeal

The club has donated £500 to the Friends of Charing Cross Hospital Charity to help out during the Covid-19 crisis.

Charing Cross is our local hospital and has admitted a number of COVID-19 patients, with numbers continuing to grow. Like other medical facilities, they are facing unprecedented challenges and one way they have found to help is by converting their shop, which has been forced to close due to Covid-19 restrictions, to a distribution centre for donations (primarily food and hand cream). The shop is run by the Friends of Charing Cross Hospital Charity, and they are now giving away their existing stock free to NHS workers in the hospital.

They are providing free refreshments for staff and aim to continue for as long as necessary.  Donations have enabled them to provide equipment to the onsite nursery in support of key workers children. But they need to raise more awareness and funding at this unprecedented time.

If you are able to help in any way, here are some of the things they’d be grateful for…

  1. Give their social media channels a shout-out to spread the news of their urgent campaign by retweeting/reposting/mentioning. Please also feel free to add their details to your website/email signatures/communications etc:
  1. Share the link to their campaign to your clients/staff and on your social media channels:

  1. Please consider donating to their campaign (link above!) – they are happy to give a thank you on their website and social media channels for any support given:
  1. Please consider donating any goods that can be made available to NHS staff via the shop. They will be happy to provide acknowledgement on their website.
