U8s come runners up at Grasshoppers festival
I would like to congratulate John, Dan and the team that went to Grasshoppers today. After our recent ‘lesson’ at the Ealing Festival, today we turned it around and came 2nd in the U8 category. The team went through the group unbeaten with wins against Finchley, Ealing and ( big local rivals) Rosslyn Park before drawing with Teddington in the semis 7-7 with a last minute try to secure the draw. It was then determined by the organisers that we proceed to the final on our performances in the group stages. We came up against a strong Windsor team in the final and ended up losing 8-4.
There were some outstanding performances, but what matters most was the attitude of the team – they did us proud. We left with a ‘shield’, runners up medals and a lot of happy faces!

It also sounded like there was success for Hammers at other age groups, so fingers crossed one of the groups won ‘gold’!
Next weekend we are away at Hackney Bulls and I would ask that as many attend as possible – it would be great to outnumber the home players (again). Please can you all reply with a yes/ no so we will have some idea on numbers and as usual we can all try and assist each other with lifts to help parents that can’t make it. Once I have an idea on numbers and start times etc. I will email everyone with all the details.
It was great to see everyone at training this morning. The standard is improving every week and I look forward to heading over to Hackney next weekend for our next session.
