Burnham on Sea TournamentPosted by Ryan Dilley on Friday 11th May 2012, 9:48am

I just wanted to drop you all a few words regarding our inaugural tour to Burnham on Sea.

I am still speechless regarding the performance over the weekend. This is not just on the rugby pitch but off it as well. The weekend surpassed all expectations and I am incredibly proud of everyone. I have spoken to a few of the other coaches and they were amazed at the way the boys played and were supported on the sidelines. Considering there were a 1000 boys there and double that in parents our 30 representatives from H and F (hammer time) punched well above their weight.

A big thank you to all the parents with the various nationalities and culture differences. (We will teach the french that it is cool to eat without food. Eating is cheating!!!!) We all bonded very well and definitely produced the best food, better than any other club that was there. American/ French cuisine is the way forward!!! This was also highlighted in the quality of the alcohol. The margarita will now be compulsory at the Beckett dinner party’s and as for the red wine all I can say is Quell Bouquet.

u8's A and B squads win at the Middlesex FestivalPosted by Ryan Dilley on Tuesday 17th April 2012, 9:11pm

On Sunday, both the A team and Development teams won their U8 Shields at the Middlesex Festival. The Development Team came back from 2 tries down to beat Finchley 3-2, and the A team thumped Wasps 6 tries to 0 in their final. It was a great day for the kids and an apt way to (all but) sign-off the season. We doubled our ‘trophy-haul’ for the season ending up with 4 plaques to show for our efforts, and to thrash Wasps was thrilling for everyone.

Chairman's March ReportPosted by Ryan Dilley on Saturday 14th April 2012, 2:20pm

The 1st XV won one and lost three league matches this month and as it stands will be relegated from the London North One league this season, unless the two teams above them are deducted points due to administration errors, which is not really going to happen at this late stage in the season. Can’t say much, as it been on the cards for several weeks and was not helped by the team having to use over 60 different players during the season so far. No team in any of the RFU leagues was going mount a successful campaign, let along avoid relegation with those number of changes in personal during the season. Hopefully the team can regroup and bounce straight back into this league in September 2013.

The 2nd XV lost their undefeated mantle that this season in the Canterbury Shield league after lots of changes to their team, but are still top of the table will only a few games left. Rogan will be driving his players to maintain their winning ways for the rest of the season, so that they finish on a high.

Hammers Cheetahs win Staines festivalPosted by Ryan Dilley on Wednesday 4th April 2012, 3:11pm

Hi All,
Well done to the Hammers Cheetahs who won the Staines festival , beating a strong London Irish “A” side in the final.

Hammers Cht vs Staines ‘A’ 4 - 1
Against the home side the hammers made a strong start with Noah , Bertie and Blake continuing were they left off at the County festival . They were in rampaging form first to every ruck and just too good for Staines today .Our new half back pair Cairan and Eleanor started to gel and were solid , passing consistently and accurately . Blake put in the tackle of the match on a Staines boy he seemed to be previously acquainted with !! Victor and Taz were solid in the tackle . Parma was in threatening form and was unlucky not to score Axel ran in 3 and Blake 1.

Hammers Tigers at the Staines FestivalPosted by Ryan Dilley on Wednesday 4th April 2012, 3:11pm

Hammers Tigers had a tougher time at the festival. Their pool was a strong pool with both Farnborough and London Irish being quite large programmes , but losing by three to large programmes shows that with a bit more organisation the Tigers can and will be more competitive .Jorge will be back for the last Festival which will mean a lot more help with organisation and guidance.

Tigers vs Harrow ‘A’ 0-3

Tigers vs Farnborough ‘A’ 0-3
Farnborough. This game followed straight after the first game, so the children were a little tired having just played a game and one could tell this towards the end.

Chairman's February ReportPosted by Ryan Dilley on Monday 12th March 2012, 2:20pm

Due to the wintery conditions early in the month only a few of games by any of the men’s sides in February.

The 1st XV played a better standard of rugby in the two games that they played, but still lost those matches to remain in relegation zone of the league. With time running out the team must now look to put a winning run together to move up the table.

Chairman's January ReportPosted by Ryan Dilley on Tuesday 7th February 2012, 2:20pm

Nothing has changed in the 1st XV’s battle against relegation as they lost all four league games in January, one of those being against fellow strugglers North Walsham, which was a major blow to the team and missing out on a valuable win against Ruislip, in a game they should have won. They now have to dig deep and have the belief that they can win a few on the remaining games, to give themselves a chance of staying in this competitive league.

The 2nd XV have continued their great run of being undefeated so far this season, which is a great testament to all the players who have made this side such a formidable unit, in the Canterbury Shield league.

Chairman's December ReportPosted by Ryan Dilley on Wednesday 11th January 2012, 2:20pm

The 1st XV unfortunately lost all three games this month, which means they will have to win a large majority of their remaining games, if they are to stay in the London North One League next season. The team is playing well in patches, but need to reproduce this high standard of play throughout the remaining games left in the season. Hopefully some of the large number of 1st XV players on the injury list will be returning to full fitness in the next few weeks, to strengthen squad for the final push up the league table, which Mark Blyghton aspects in the next few months.

The 2nd XV can’t seem to stop winning at the moment, keeping their undefeated run going with excellent performances that sees them top the Canterbury Shield League. I know their captain Andrew Rogan will be looking to maintain this good run, right through until the end of the season.

Chairman's November ReportPosted by Ryan Dilley on Wednesday 7th December 2011, 2:20pm

It’s been a great month for all men’s senior sides throughout the club.

The 1st XV produced great displays in their two London One league matches, winning one and narrowly loosing the other. It was the first time they have fielded a nearly unchanged team in consecutive games, which was what the captain and coaches have been trying to achieve all season, as they knew this would lead to better results in the league campaign.
