Annual Dinner & Dance 2010

The Annual Dinner and end of season awards ceremony was the pinnacle of the Hammersmith and Fulham Rugby club season, and what a season!

After several years at the Queens Club, H&F invited its members to a venue that matched its season’s success, Chelsea Football Club in its double winning season. So it was up to the Hammers to remind the locals that there is only ONE team in Hammersmith and Fulham! Glamorous dinner goers initially took over SoBar before they were welcomed into the luxurious environment of CFC, where its plasma screens were emblazoned with the passionate red logo of H&F. Sean, the Club Captain, admirably hosted the night, from drinks reception to delicious 3-course meal, and comparing the celebration of Club’s and individual player’s success. Though he did allow some ‘senior’ members of the club too much airtime when their opportunities arose, some grabbing the mic on several occasions.

Full of alcohol and drinking games, some lawlessness (thank you ladies), and dancing, the night was enjoyed by a record breaking 140 players, partners, coaches, minis coaches and minis parents, and was truly a whole club event. A first for the club, destined to continue. A feature of the night was the sneak peak at the Club’s fantastic new website. Introduced and designed by Ryan, the Club Webmaster, an exciting video clip was shown which enforced the professional yet social aspects of the club, and that “we do also play rugby!” The good music and dancing then continued past the 1am Chelsea finish, with the Wheatsheaf hosted after-party going on till 4am, officially!

A big thank you to Sly for organising this and other events! It will be his last, as he is standing down as Social and Events Coordinator.
