Ladies season 2009/2010
Hammersmith & Fulham Ladies are looking for enthusiastic and committed people to join the club! We are a very sociable and lively team who train hard and play hard but who also enjoy some epic good times at the pub! It doesn’t matter what your level is and absolute beginners are more than welcome. We train on Tuesdays and Thursdays 7:30pm - 9pm at Hurlingham Park and we play on Sunday afternoons (but not every week). If you are interested in meeting new people, getting fit and playing the best sport ever, then get in touch with our Captain or Director, or just come down to a training session.
Season 2009/2010
Last year’s season started off with some great news, in that we got promoted to the South East 1 league after an unbeaten season. More good news was that our Captain Sandy was expecting a baby! Bad news, she wasn’t allowed to play rugby while pregnant and had to step down. Luckily for the Hammers Bethan Roberts was ready and willing to take the reigns! The summer and early autumn was a period of change for the team as many of our senior players left town for sunnier climates. This meant that the Hammers needed to re-build and we struggled to win games in our new league. Bethan, having done great work as Captain moved down to Bournemouth in December, enter Captain number three Kat Butler.

Still finding it tough in our new league with new players, a break through happened just before Christmas when we won our first league game. Spurred on by our new found confidence and a close-knit team environment we went from strength to strength and only lost one game in the second half of the season. The Hammers showed exemplary spirit and determination to show everyone that this is the league we belong in and finished mid-table. Well done to all those who played this year and remember the Hammer motto - “Play for the shirt, play for the girl next to you, heads up rugby!” - A-UE A-UE A-UE HAMMERS HAMMERS HAMMERS!!!
